Company profile

Five decades of experience and know-how speak for themselves. Founded by Walter Hengst in 1958, Hengst is a world leader in the manufacture of filters and filter systems for the automobile industry in the industrial and consumer sectors.

Essentially all the major automakers trust the family-owned company as a development partner and standard parts supplier. Naturally, Hengst also has an international presence. In addition to its headquarters in Germany, the company has subsidiaries and manufacturing locations in Brazil, China and the US.

The Hengst product line covers a wide range of applications from filter inserts for oil, air, fuel and cabin air filtration systems to extensive multifunction modules for all types of engines. The company’s decades of filtration know-how are also in demand for industrial and environmental engineering applications. Custom solutions can be designed and implemented for almost all filtration applications.

The recipe for Hengst’s success includes fast-paced innovation and close cooperation between Development and Production. Its depth of manufacture means that it can perform a wide range of manufacturing activities internally. Moreover, the advantages of a family-owned, medium-size company should not be discounted: A fast decision-making process, continuity in corporate policy and the ability to react particularly quickly and flexibly to changing market conditions.

Uniform and consistent quality standards in all areas of the company - which is certified under ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 14001 - guarantee uniformly high-quality and competitive products.

One thing has remained unchanged over our 50-year history. People are the focus of all our activities. Hengst currently has more than 2,300 employees in its eight locations worldwide. These highly qualified and motivated employees, together with a modern infrastructure and efficient, competitive suppliers, form the basis of our success.

In addition to providing future-oriented, secure jobs, the company has invested in enhancing the integration of work and family. Our employees enjoy ideal conditions for harmonizing professional and family life, thanks to the day care center for the children of Hengst employees.

Hengst also supports the "Schule mit Köpfchen" initiative for motivating school children, the Bolshoi Theater School in Joinville, Brazil and the registered nationwide Herzenswünsche e.V. association in Germany, which fulfills the heart's desires of seriously ill children and youth.
